Hungarian Group Interview on the Training Course “From NEET to Compete: A Comprehensive Approach to Youth Employability.”

Tell us your opinion about the Project “From NEET to Compete”. Which relevant information did you learn during the training course? What was new/the most relevant and interesting for you?

 During the training course, we gained valuable insights into a range of pertinent subjects that significantly expanded our understanding. A standout topic was the challenges faced by NEET youth – those not in education, employment, or training. This was entirely novel to us, uncovering how socioeconomic factors, educational gaps, and limited support systems intertwine to create these challenges. The training focused on the need to empower NEET youth with skills for successful integration into the workforce. Other topics that were equally enlightening to us were the emphasis on inclusivity and combating discrimination, urging the creation of environments where all individuals can flourish. Engaging in exercises offered profound perspectives on the impact of discrimination and racism. Another crucial aspect was mentorship activities for diverse groups. This skill appears to hold practical value in my future, potentially through organizing non-formal educational initiatives. Furthermore, exploring mental health challenges faced by NEET individuals illuminated the importance of holistic well-being. This training equipped us to foster positive change in our surroundings, from promoting inclusivity to assisting NEET youth and beyond.

What do you think makes this topic critically important these days?

NEET is critically important today due to its multifaceted impact on individuals and society. The increase in the number of NEET people could be due to a variety of reasons, such as inadequate family support, mismatched job opportunities, or the aftermath of crises like wars and pandemics. Additionally, mental health challenges resulting from these circumstances can increase the impact of the issue. The NEET youth are vulnerable to disconnection from education and employment in our rapidly changing world. This poses economic and societal risks, making it imperative to invest in their potential for a prosperous future. Addressing the NEET challenge promotes inclusivity, prevents mental health issues, and contributes to sustainable development, making it a crucial topic deserving of attention and action. Addressing the NEET issue is crucial for building a sustainable and equitable future. By investing in the potential of NEET youth and providing them with the tools to compete in the modern workforce. We can break the cycle of disengagement and pave the way for a more prosperous and inclusive society. This way also helps NEET people to find purpose and prevent mental health issues. Immigrants and refugees can be in this situation too. We need to help everyone fit in. Fixing this helps make neighborhoods safer, bring people together, and make everyone happier.

How can you apply the knowledge gained during the training course to your personal path, as well as raise awareness about this topic in your community?

We plan to share our experience and the knowledge we have gained with friends, family, and acquaintances. By discussing the importance of skill development, education, and emotional well-being, we hope to inspire individuals to take charge of their paths and seek growth opportunities. Organizing workshops or informational sessions in collaboration with local organizations could be an effective way to spread awareness. By sharing success stories and emphasizing the benefits of transitioning from NEET to a more competitive position, we can motivate others to explore similar opportunities. Utilizing social media platforms, we can engage a wider audience by sharing informative posts, success stories, and resources related to overcoming the NEET status. Creating online communities or forums where individuals can ask questions, share their experiences, and seek advice would also contribute to raising awareness and offering support. In essence, the knowledge gained from the NEET training course is not only a personal asset but also a tool to ignite positive change in our community. By embodying the principles and strategies we have learned, and by actively engaging in awareness-raising activities, we aspire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around us.
